Quality Assurance

Formal Quality System

Midwest Plastic Engineering has always been committed to ensuring the highest possible quality.  We have operated under a formal quality system for over 20 years now.  Starting in 1988, we became ISO-9002 compliant which we continued to be until 2001.  At that time we had the need for go through the certification process, and became ISO-9002 and QS-9000 certified.  With this certification, we also wrote in procedures to allow us to be AS-9000 compliant.  Once QS-9000 became an obsolete standard, Midwest Plastic Engineering transitioned to ISO-9001:2000 certification, and subsequently became ISO9001-2008 certified.  During the summer of 2018, Midwest Plastic Engineering upgraded its quality system to the new ISO-9001:2015 standard, and adhere’s to the Minimum Automotive Quality Management System Requirements (MAQMSR) for IATF-16949.

Midwest Plastic Engineering has always promoted personnel into quality positions from other areas of the company.  This philosophy ensures that all quality personnel are intimately familiar with the various products we produce and their specific quality needs.

Housekeeping & Safety

Being a family owned and operated business, housekeeping and safety have always been one of the highest priorities of Midwest Plastic Engineering.  By operating a facility that many visitors have described as the cleanest molding facility they have ever been in, we are able to ensure an even higher level of quality than our competitors.

Midwest Plastic Engineering also has an impeccable safety record.  We joined the Michigan Plastic Processors Association (MPPA) in 1991, and we were awarded the Safety Flag from them each year we were a member, until 2008 when MPPA ceased providing worker’s compensation insurance.  From 1996 through 2008 we were also awarded the MPPA’s President Award for having one of the lowest loss levels of all the companies covered by MPPA.  We have continued that excellent track record of safety through today with our new Worker’s Compensation carrier.
